Tom’s job position was made “redundant” in January and, since then, he’s been depressed and struggling. What do Tom’s career prospects look like in the near future?

Your Past Experience in your Career: The Knight of Swords supports our mundane knowledge that Tom was laid off. Swords indicate unexpected change and rapid action. We can tell that he had no idea it was coming. In fact, by the look of this Knight – which represents Tom’s boss — as he charges forward on his horse, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision and possibly not in anybody’s best interests.

Your Current Job Experience: The Major Arcana, Judgment in this slot tells us that Tom has been looking for work. His professional life, lately, involves a lot of assessment by others. They are gauging his resume, comparing him to other candidates. Tom feels this on a very subconscious level, too, and doesn’t particularly care for others examining his work under a microscope.

What You Want From a Job: A court card – the Queen of Rods – in this slot actually reveals characteristics of Tom’s ideal boss. He would do better under a woman, who would nurture his talents and abilities. Since this Queen often finds herself doing charitable work, something in the non-profit sector may suit Tom well – a situation where he knows what he is doing is for the greater good; a paycheck is secondary.

What You NEED From a Job: Three of Pentacles. Right now, in Tom’s depressed frame of mind, he shouldn’t try to stretch himself beyond his capabilities. Now is not the time to become the high-rolling corporate workaholic. Look for “wood-cutting” jobs that will put food on the table while you learn and grow and decide what you really want. It’s impossible, of course, to think clearly when money is a concern. Take whatever you can find for that steady pay and benefits, and invest whatever you have left in courses or professional training to help you find your passion.

What you have to offer – Your Greatest Strengths: Eight of Cups / Two of Cups. Tom’s strengths include keen intuition, but a lack of faith in himself is holding him back. Miss Michele drew a clarification card to help assess the meaning of this odd Cup card in this position and drew the Two of Cups. This only reinforces that Tom’s ideal job involves helping people and finding emotional fulfillment over a hefty paycheck. His ability to relate to people means he’ll do well in any job working with the public, whether it’s service industry or psychology.

Your Career Future – Your Action Plan: The Page of Swords and Eight of Cups both stand as cards indicating deception. Miss Michele wonders if Tom was actually a spy, as unlikely as this scenario might be. More likely, Tom needs to watch out for those in his career who are trying to pull one over on him. This may have been what happened in his last jobs – things were not as he expected them to be. Moreover, he’s encountering more than his fair share of people who are less than honest in his job search.

Again, however, people skills figure prominently in the Page of Swords, who is a skilled diplomat. Perhaps a career in customer service for Tom? Pages are messengers and swords indicate change so, whatever field it may be in, a job offer will come soon.

Wednesday, at the Echo of One tarot chat, Miss Michele, Serenity, and I were discussing the Law of Attraction (LOA). Now, I had heard of this system before, where we draw positive energy into our lives via our positive thoughts and attitudes. I was a little curious, and a little confused about how it worked.

Then I ran across a Life Coach who was willing to walk me through the process, step by step. I’m just in the groundworks of this new project, and I wanted to see how all of this positive thinking would help me in my life. So I did a quick Past, Present, Future spread with my trusty Gilded Tarot to get a quick overview of the situation.

Past: Five of Cups

This is one of the things I love about the tarot: sometimes, it is painfully obvious in its answers! In this scene, an older man with long, raven black hair is kneeling in a field, his head resting against his hands. There are three toppled cups in front of him, and two glowing golden cups behind. Further in the background is a tree and two bushes, and two black birds flying against the orange sunset.

This shows the despair that my life has been wrapped up in previously. I have faced depression and hardships, and in the LOA, it is (apparently) best to dismiss all the negative thoughts from the past, and focus on a bright future. Personally, I have a very hard time letting go of the past influences. This card reminds me that there is more to life than this – after all, there are five more cards to go!

Present: Three of Cups

I love the beauty and joy of this three of cups! In a golden pool of water, one cups stands, overflowing from the two other cups pouring their riches into it. Above the cups are three women, dressed in sheer greens, reds, and blues. In one hand, each of the women have glowing orbs of light. On the other wrist, they each have green and red ribbons tied and flowing in the breeze.

In the Present, the three of cups shows that I have a lot to celebrate right now! I have great family and friends, and their support will help me even more. It signifies joy, abundance, and spending time with those I love. Along with the LOA, surrounding myself with positive people will definitely help me out.

Future: Ten of Pentacles

This one showed up in last Friday’s post! The field mouse sitting atop the treasure, while the turtle reaps a portion of the rewards. Today, however, I am more drawn to the six glowing pentacles within the treasure chest. This symbolizes the riches that are within reach, that are mine by right. Obviously, since no one can have all the riches of the world, we only need worry about our portion in life.

I find this card extremely funny in the Future position! One of the things I’ve heard most frequently about the LOA is that money can be drawn to you by your positive thinking. While I am not completely convinced of this possibility, I am also not one to rule it out. I possess a dose of healthy skepticism with a willingness to try anything. So seeing the bountiful ten of pentacles here makes me think that I am on the right track, finding what is rightfully mine for this life.

What do you think? Any insights on the Law of Attraction? Overall, these cards look like an exact duplication of the steps of LOA to me!

I find Wednesdays so inspirational. Meeting in the Echo of One chat room for our Wednesday tarot chat always puts me in a spiritual and productive state of mine.

I decided to do a tarot reading regarding a possible move in my future. From the information I have onhand right now, it seems spot-on, like a distinct probability.

Miss Michele has been taking a course related to the Law of Attraction and I’m also reading Wayne Dyer’s Manifest Your Destiny.

My question for the tarot: “Will we be moving into our own house by summer?”

I didn’t let it get to me when I drew my least favorite card, The Tower. This card is at the basis of the matter, since I haven’t hit it yet. I know that past circumstances and my entire way of thinking must be discarded to pave the way for a better life I will manifest. This may be the first time in my life when the Tower truly is the positive moment many tarot readers tell you it is.

The second card, The Chariot, couldn’t be a more clear cut answer: Yes, we will be moving.

The third card, Strength, seems to be sending me a message lately. It came up in a reading last week in the chat room, and a few times since then. Not only will I need strength to manage — and clean — a new, larger house, and also to move with the baby. But I have it. This card is reminding me of that when things get rough. Also, it’s a logical progression. Tower moments always make us stronger.

In addition, the three Major Arcanas are reminding me to let go and let the Universe’s will be done, a major tenet of the Law of Attraction. I’ve been working too hard for it. I just have to trust that it is there (and, again, that’s where strength comes in) and it will come to me.

Let’s see where this goes.

Feel free to drop by the Echo of One / Future-Tarot chat at 10 AM and share your insights on this spread, get a reading of your own, or discuss the tarot and other matters spiritual and metaphysical.

Ellen requested an L-for-Love spread with no specific question. Miss Michele’s Hanson-Roberts deck revealed some interesting insights and a positive outlook where Ellen will see her needs fulfilled as she gets what she has worked for.

Past Experience in Love: Two of Swords: Ellen may have been the victim of cheating in the past or, at the very least, a situation she didn’t like. The blindfolded woman, swords crossed, shows a strong sense of balance but also hidden factors that Ellen isn’t seeing. She removed the blinders which, based on the next card, brought forth a transformation. I’m getting a strong feeling that perhaps Ellen was with a man her family and friends disapproved of, but she failed to see his faults for a long time.

Current Experience in Love: Judgment: It’s put-up or shut-up for Ellen’s lover, as she’s passed judgment on him and the case is closed. He can either right past wrongs or hit the road. Once Ellen opened her eyes, she saw the problems but is working to forgive him and trying to work things out.

What You Want in a Love Relationship: Two of Cups: Simply stated, Ellen wants a fair partnership, filled with love. She’d like marriage in the future, with someone who returns her passion. Ellen is an extremely loving person and just wants someone who can give that back to her.

What You Need in a Love Relationship / Hidden Influences: Page of Pentacles: Ellen may need not only a new perspective — often indicated by this card — but a new relationship. Miss Michele gets a strong sense that this isn’t one of those situations where it just feels like a new relationship because both parties have changed so much. Once Ellen starts seeing things in a different way, she will get a fresh start with a new lover and it will feel very much like young love. The pentacles also indicate that they will match each other on a platonic and intellectual level as well as romantically, which is always an ideal situation in a relationship!

What You Have to Offer in a Relationship: The Nine of Cups: Ellen is ready to share all her love, her whole life and her dreams with the right person. The “Wish card” in this spot indicates that Ellen is ready to grant someone’s wishes while her own will come true. Ellen is extremely nurturing, loving and kind, as well as generally upbeat. She deserves – to put it bluntly – a man who deserves her, and nothing less!

Possible Future Outcome: Justice: She will get exactly that, while her potentially former partner will also get what he needs and wants out of life, what he was truly seeking all the while. It seems to me that, while he’s not a bad person, he just wasn’t a fit for Ellen. Her friends and family picked up on this before she did; it took a dramatic turn of events for Ellen to see what she was sacrificing by standing in an unbalanced and love-less relationship. Prospects on the horizon for Ellen are much happier; she’s a stronger person as a result of her turmoil and even better prepared for her true love to find her.
