[Miss Michele] The answer is yes…you will… and soon. If you make up your mind to do it. (More coming, just had to get that out.)

[otherdeb] MM tends to give conclusions first.

Serenity Bly waits, almost patiently, for the cards.

[Miss Michele] The cards are… Past: Page of Swords. Present: 7 of Pents–and a VERY strong 7 Pents. Possible Outcome: Ace of Swords… So there’s a lot of tumult going on… you’re going to need to literally “cut” some certain things free–maybe people, certainly aspects of your life–before you find what you need and want.

[otherdeb] I like the Ace of Swords as the outcome

[cragusa103] oh wow

[Miss Michele] That Page of Swords indicates what happened in the past was completely unexpected, out of the blue… but you charged forward with a very strong energy… Almost as if your losing a job was a challenge to you and you fought it head on. But as time went on, you began to lose energy. The 7 of Pents indicates working very hard, but you’re getting tired of that and are ready to see the fruits of your labor.

[Serenity Bly] All minor arcana, two swords, and one pentacle indicates your self-empowerment and job-mindedness. I get the impression that you need to crystalize your focus, become single-minded about taking control of your career direction to the exclusion of other aspects of life for the moment. Make it your single-most goal and devotion. I get the impression you may be spending a lot of energy on unproductive distractions.

[cragusa103] yes

[Miss Michele] I get that you’re doing all the right things–or feel you are. But you’re showing a resistance to being open to new ideas.

[cragusa103] oh ok

[Serenity Bly] Like you’re hard work is pushing in the wrong direction, throwing yourself against a brick wall instead of looking for the door.

[Miss Michele] YES! Exactly. And people are pointing you toward the door and you’re like, no, no–it’s THIS way, I know it. That Ace of Swords in the future is VERY propitious… but you do need to let go of some of your old beliefs/habits.

[cragusa103] wow i need to focus on the goal

[otherdeb] and on being clear-cut about what you want

[cragusa103] So it will get better but there are stums along the way?

[Miss Michele] Look in every direction because the opportunity will come where you aren’t expecting it.

[Serenity Bly] Eventually you could smash through the wall but it would be painful and exhausting. It makes sense to do more seeking with your mind first, figure out where your headed and then find the best way to get there.

[Miss Michele] The only stumps are the ones you’re creating.

[cragusa103] oh ok and once it comes it will be good.

[Miss Michele] Yes! With it being an Ace, though… it will be the beginning.

[Serenity Bly] Yes, as MM said, the only stumps are of your own creation. There is nothing but yourself preventing you from moving forward. But if you expect obstacles, you’ll create them.

[Miss Michele] Right now it’s all about opportunities for you–and the opportunities will be what you make of them.

[cragusa103] oh ok … and they will come when i least expect them?

[Serenity Bly] But you have the power to create a firm foundation in a new job. And it’ll be something that uses your skills, your talent for communication, probably working with other people. Don’t be afraid to feel like you’re starting from the ground floor.

[cragusa103] oh ok

[JenNipps] I can actually vouch for expecting obstacles = creating them. Been there, done that far too often. I’m learning how to get myself out of the way, though, so I don’t do that as often.

[Miss Michele] My life coach sends out a little ‘thought’ everyday, and she said (I’m paraphrasing) yesterday… “When opportunity knocks, will you have to peek through the peephole, unbolt the chain, unfasten three deadbolts, and remove a padlock? If so… he may get tired of waiting. And that’s the sense I’m getting here. Don’t be closed off to opportunities.

[cragusa103] oh ok

[Miss Michele] Can I ask what field you’re in, Claudia? Just by way of networking…may know someone, etc.

[otherdeb] Our WW leader says that if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten.

[Miss Michele] YES!   

[JenNipps] Very true, Deb. 
 
[cragusa103]I was in the garment industry in the production department

[Miss Michele] Did you like it or are you looking to change work? And do you live near Deb?

otherdeb blinks — Um. and, I just realized that it works both ways…if I always stay on program, I will, over time, always lose weight.
[cragusa103] yes i do live near deb. I would like to find something in the industry as i have 10 years in it.

[otherdeb] maybe time for you to start over in something good for you, hon. Like the jewelry making. Claudia has recently started making adorable bracelets.

[cragusa103] Yes I started making bracelets and sold 4 so far.

[Miss Michele] Yes, Claudia…being in something 10 years is not a reason/excuse to stay at it. And if you haven’t been able to find something, maybe that’s the universe’s way of telling you to look elsewhere, which fits in with what Serenity said earlier about not being afraid to start entry-level somewhere.

[cragusa103] I just thought i have the experience I should be good at it.

[Miss Michele] I would think about what it is you WANT to do…
[cragusa103] I will

[Miss Michele] There’s that Page of swords again, telling you this is an OPPORTUNITY.

[cragusa103] oh ok

[Miss Michele] You were fired up at the start about it, but now you’re thinking, “Well, I’ll just do what I’ve always done.”

[Serenity Bly] To be honest Claudia, the impression I got of the job you’re going into didn’t seem to have anything to do with clothing or fashion. It feels more desk clerk, office work-ish.

Claudia then revealed she had just applied to work at a major U.S. bank, and the room occupants began discussing banks where we have connections… We have omitted this to preserve identities and privacy… plus unless you’re in the banking field or looking for a job in banking, it probably isn’t all that exciting!

[Miss Michele] Keep at it, Claudia, because you really are just starting to explore the world of options open to you.

Miss Michele struggled to draw a card of the week this week. Several times I shuffled my deck. I even drew cards a few times. But none resonated as “true.”

This evening, down to the wire, I drew the High Priestess… and I realized that the tarot was telling me to trust my intuition – and trust the cards.

I had a conversation today with a woman I consider a mentor. I explained my theory of tarot to her… that the cards simply guide us through creating a future we desire. For instance, if the tarot portends an undesirable outcome, we can change our future by changing our course of action. If the cards say things will work out well … we believe they will. We create our own future.

Having said that, I find the tarot to be a powerful tool to inspire and motivate us – to help us view situations from new perspectives we may not have considered – and to uncover the Truth that, deep within our true selves, we know, but may want to ignore.

That, to me, is what the High Priestess represents. Our inner power to be our true self. To live our passion and to live with passion. To let our intuition guide us and to be open to all the ideas the Universe may send our way.

The High Priestess has already manifested in my life this week in my conversation with my mentor. I’m excited to see what else she will bring me.

It’s Friday the 13th, and unlike the series of popular movies and television shows of the same name, today will be a normal, uneventful day for most people. According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, between 17 and 21 million people in the US* suffer some degree of paraskevidekatriaphobia (a fear of Friday the 13th). Have you ever wondered where these superstitions begin or how they affect our lives?

While some people believe Friday the 13th is unlucky, superstitions also exist to support the idea of good luck falling on this day. Some believe black cats bring misfortune, others (like myself) believe black cats offer omens of protection. So, what exactly IS a superstition? Lets look at the definition of superstition as given by dictionary.com:

Pronunciation [soo-per-stish-uhn] /ˌsupərˈstɪʃən/

1. a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge, in or of the ominous significance of a particular thing, circumstance, occurrence, proceeding, or the like.
2. a system or collection of such beliefs.
3. a custom or act based on such a belief.
4. irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious, esp. in connection with religion.
5. any blindly accepted belief or notion.

Did you know that Tarot, by the definitions given above, could also be considered superstition? There is no tangible, definitive proof that would give credibility to our belief in the insight and potential for foresight we glean from Tarot.

So how do superstitions become plausible? Why do more than 17 million Americans believe Friday the 13th bodes ill? I believe the Law of Attraction plays a large part in the perpetuation of superstitions. If we believe Friday the 13th is unlucky, we attract ill fortune into our lives on this day. If we believe our black cat offers protection, we feel protected when he is around. If we believe seven is a lucky number, we’ll win on this number more frequently simply because we play it more than any other number.

In the same way, the meanings and definitions we’ve given the 78 Tarot Cards represent our belief, our superstition, as to their meaning and the impact they have in our lives. If, as theorized by the Law of Attraction, our thoughts attract our reality perhaps we can surmise that our interpretation of Tarot, and the choices and actions we take because of those beliefs, create the future that unfolds. Miss Michele and I firmly believe that the insight Tarot offers empowers us to create a future for ourselves. To be forewarned is an opportunity to prepare and prevent challenging outcomes and to explore and enhance positive experiences.

Imagine for a moment, that Friday the 13th was a particularly lucky day. Can you imagine good fortune and great joy befalling you on this day? If you can conjure positive superstitions your positive thoughts could influence your future. Your positive thoughts create a positive outcome.

[Serenity Bly] In the past we see The High Priestess. I feel she represents YOU and who your brother sees you as. To him you’re organized, together, you know what you want and you fight for what you believe in. This gift is his way of acknowledging you for being a beacon to him. You’ve shown him a way of existing and he strives to “be more like you.” [Serenity Bly is reading with the Mythic Tarot.]

[FatesLady] Thank you. He does look up to me a lot, and he thinks I really do have it all together, even when I tell him different.

[Serenity Bly] In the present we see the Ace of Swords. Originally, the card would represent a new perspective, new insights, and a new way of seeing. But I feel like this is less about how you see the world or even how your brother sees you or you see him, but a new beginning within your relationship…

[FatesLady] That could be. This may be the first thing that he’s EVER done for me that cost more than $5. It was a big expense, and it was totally unprompted.

[Serenity Bly] There’s a new depth to your communication and connection. You’ve been given an opportunity to really get to know each other better. Ah, there is the connection — it’s the space to really see into each others lives.

[FatesLady] It was also a “knight in shining armor” moment, a new thing for him, which could be why it’s an Ace.

[Serenity Bly] Perhaps something has shifted for either of you. I feel like he is “coming of age” so to speak and you’re able to connect with each other on an adult level that wasn’t there before. As for what you can do for him: we come up with two cards, the King of Wands reversed and the Ace of Cups. My initial instinct when I drew the cards was that you can’t GIVE him someTHING, but someONE. There is a person within your own circle of friends or aquaintances. I feel like he is male, or at least a masculine energy, and you have the power to introduce him to your brother for their mutual benefit.

[Miss Michele] I sense a tangible change in their relationship. Almost like cutting old ties. I feel as if she may be helping to introduce him to the King of Wands within himself. A little of both — this new person is helping him to release his playful nature, too.

[FatesLady] I’m not sure who that could be referring to… I think he’s met almost all of my friends before

[Serenity Bly] *chuckles* Ok, well I was going to say nothing, but I have this little tickle that wants to ask, “Is he gay and single?” This feels like setting up a blind date. I don’t know about that and I normally would keep my mouth shut… because, I mean, come on, who can really pick out that sort of thing across oceans? But it FEELS like a playful energy, light, touching, warm, and loving.

[FatesLady] Hehe. He thinks he’s straight, but I am 99% sure that he is at least bi. He has a gay best friend and they call each other “boyfriends” but there’s nothing sexual there at this time.

[Miss Michele] Serenity you are GOOD! My gay-dar doesnt even work across a room, much less the world!

[Serenity Bly] Perhaps that is simply what this relationship is about, discovering a new sense of joy and playfulness.

[FatesLady] I think perhaps what I need to do is be there for him as he discovers that part of himself. It might be saying that things will develop for him soon

[Serenity Bly] Well then go with that. You may know a young man who would be a wonderful friend for your brother. It mightn’t feel as significant as giving a remarkable gift but I honestly thing it’s a better gift than anything you could buy him. Give him the space to explore that potential, the warmth, love, and commitment. He might be afraid of alienation and this is an opportunity to create a stronger bond for your sibling relationship and give him the freedom to discover himself.

[FatesLady] I did my own reading earlier that said I needed to be there for him, but I had no idea WHY. Guess that hits that.

Sometimes in tarot, cards leap out of the deck as we shuffle. I barely got a chance to shuffle my Hanson-Roberts deck this evening when the Six of Swords escaped.

I recall this card coming up in several readings last week… which could point to a universal trend or a particular message the card has for me, as the reader. This happens sometimes. It is not that the card isn’t meant for the querent, per se — it fits their situation well — but often when I see a card show up time and again in readings, it has a message for the reader, too.

Before I discuss my personal connection with the card, however, let’s explore the universal implications.

Universal Implications
After the full moon last Monday, we now see a waning moon, with a new moon on the 16th. Many people believe in a phenomenon called “Full moon madness.” Some hospitals report more accidents (and deaths) and, of course, mythology is steeped in lore about the full moon and creatures like werewolves.

Here at Future-tarot, we do not subscribe to superstitions and we believe we create our own destiny. However, we also believe in the Law of Attraction. If so many people in the world believe strange things happen when the moon is full — could those universal beliefs not make it so? The energy people put into worrying about a full moon transforms into negative energy, and strange things do happen (or perhaps we are just more attuned to them.)

So… let’s breathe a sigh of relief and say the full moon is over. Not only that, our friend the Six of Swords, in his boat as he rows toward shore, tells us we are escaping our problems and traveling toward something better.

We welcome fall, a new season, the harvest, and the coming happy holidays — filled with expectations of parties, time with family, love, peace and happiness. (Right? That’s what we all expect of the holidays, isn’t it??? Are you with me here?)

On a Personal Note

As I move into the next phase of my personal and career transformation through The Secret Abundance Files, I can attest to a definite sense of moving toward something better.

I’ve been on this self-improvement journey since June, however. I think this card is reminding me that life is a constant journey. Or, as Miley Cyrus so eloquently puts it: “Ain’t about how fast I get there / Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side / It’s the climb…”

May there be many more Six of Swords moments in your own future as you always move toward better, brighter, more fruitful shores.
