[Serenity Bly] Now, Jen wants a year overview in three card?

[Miss Michelle] ooohh!! I think you better draw these, SB, as I may be too biased w/ inside knowledge.

[Serenity Bly] Ok. Let me do a quick shuffle then.

[Miss Michelle] Just because I KNOW what the cards will be… and that’s not a good way to start a reading.
[Serenity Bly] pfft, there she is with her preconceived notions.

[Jen_N] I am quite excited about this year.

[Serenity Bly] OHhhhhhhh Can I have your 2010, Jen?

[Miss Michelle] ROFLMAO!! I guess it’s not just my beliefs.

[Serenity Bly] In the past we see The Moon. 2009 was a bit of a mess, you lacked direction and have been rocked by life throwing its boulders in your path.

[Miss Michelle] I also see the Moon as deception… often self-deception.

[Jen_N] Yeah. You could say that. A mess inside and out a lot of times, it seems. And, yes, there was some substantial self-deception (unconscious/unrealized, perhaps) going on.

[Miss Michelle] I think you were psyching yourself out, deceiving yourself into believing you were less than you are.

[Serenity Bly] I feel like there may have been a significant health scare. Literally the potential for terminal illness but the next two cards makes me fairly certain that that scare didn’t substantiate. But mostly the Moon indicates emotional upset and a lack of self-esteem. You’re torn between your passions and interests which destroyed any sense of focus and got in the way of your ability to look ahead with any clarity.

[Jen_N] Yeah. Been going to the local Wound Care Center for diabetes-related problems with my left leg. I think so, MM. When I would get glimpses into that, I actually scared myself. Now I’m working on embracing that.

[Serenity Bly] In the present we see The Wheel of Fortune. This one is upright, you’re open to the guidance of fate. You’re being given a greater destiny and just have to listen to where you’re being sent next.

[Miss Michelle]

[Serenity Bly] Pay attention, look outside and in. And then follow your heart and soul because it’ll make you some very good money.

[Miss Michelle] Upright also typically means simply, “A change in things for the better,” too, right?

[Serenity Bly] The future for this year shows an Eight of Pentacles, working steadfastly to master a skill/trade and doing well from it. Making a career, a lifestyle, from whatever you’re putting your hands to. You’re physically involved in creating and are developing your abilities, honing the craft.

[Jen_N] I honestly have to laugh out loud at “putting your hands to.” That could be taken quite literally. I started a new site today since I can’t do Etsy at the moment due to lack of a credit card. But I *do* have PayPal and Weebly has a shopping cart function I can use.

[Miss Michelle] Nice! Crafting?

[Jen_N] Yup. I’m putting my jewelry, crochet, and some painting on there.

[Serenity Bly] There is no sense of hardship or warning coming from these cards. But with three cards it’s impossible to get a full view of an entire year. It’s a highlight and if you’d like more detail I recommend the 12-Month Spread.

Another AW member has found their way to Miss Michele’s Tarot Blog and wants to know what path their career should take…

Looking for Peace writes: I have a HUGE decision to make and it’s wearing me down. I want to leave my soul-sucking (but well compensated) corporate communications job and try my hand at freelance writing, but I worry if this is the right move for me/my family. Financially we’ll be ok for a year, but frankly, I’m scared/worried that I’ll fail miserably and end up looking for another corporate job – and I won’t find one that pays as well as the one I’m thinking of leaving. Staying part-time isn’t an option – it’s all or nothing. I’ll be more at peace once my decision’s made. What do the cards show?

As a writer, Miss Michele would recommend testing the freelance waters while working full-time. Put in a few hours a week after work or on weekends and try to line up some clients. As a corporate communications writer, you have experience and presumably, some clips, so you’ll have a leg up on others just getting started. Before you consider working from home, ask yourself: are you self-motivated, disciplined, or are you overly social (ie, will working from home, with a lot less person-to-person interaction, drive you crazy, or do you thrive in a quiet environment?)

But that’s just Miss Michele’s two cents. Let’s see what the tarot have to say about your chances of success in freelance writing…

Two deception cards came up in this reading, however, with two Knights present, a new career opportunity is certainly in the off-ing. I want to say that those at your current job will “connive” or bribe or promise you things to get you to stay.

Card by Card:

The >Seven of Swords is the card of stealth and deception. Showing a man slinking away with five swords, while the other two are firmly embedded in the ground, it indicates using cunning to get what you want—or that someone is using this against you. You’ve admitted that your current company is soul-sucking… they are, quite literally, slinking away with the best of you!

The Knight of Wands in the Near Future shows an escape from difficulty. Change is in the air and things will work out well. Even if you do wind up taking a lower paying job after trying freelancing (which I don’t think will be the case), you’ll be happier in the long run.

The Knight of Cups in the outcome came out, but reversed. While upright it symbolizes a new relationship or career, it shows deception when it is reversed. Don’t be passive—follow your heart and stand up for yourself, regardless of what your current employers offer. If you want to leave, do it. But don’t let this company keep getting the best of you. Things will work out whatever your choice.

Kate Boddie says:
I’ve always been rather scattered, hopping from project to project. While it’s all in the same realm, I never really finished anything major.

As of late, things have been starting to fall into place, albeit slowly and I wanted to know if I’ve finally found my track.

Am I headed down the right path? Are my aspirations where they should be?

Miss Michele has a confession.

She sat down to do your reading last night, and the Tower fell out of the deck. Thinking this had no relation to your question—and realizing that Miss Michele was quite tired—she put the cards away to do the reading in the morning.

She shuffled and concentrated, focusing and meditating. And chose the Tower. She continued with a five card reading with the Tower as the first card.

The Tower in the Past shows a complete collapse of your old way of life, some catastrophe or upheaval that made you begin anew. Boddie, the disarray and chaos is behind you now.

But whatever it was, Wow! It sure woke you up to get focused and find your path!

The Four of Wands in the Present position shows that, after your tumultuous past, you’ve found refuge, a well-deserved rest. You’re laying the foundation for successful creative pursuits. You’re enjoying the fruits of your labors and resting before you embark on phase two of your project.

The Unconscious Influences behind your decision—card 3 in your reading—shows the Wheel of Fortune. You have a huge yearning for success—monetary and emotional/spiritual. Your desire for it will make it so. Deep down, you are more confident than you realize! Once again, this card shows massive life changes, the end of a phase and start of a new one. You are always on the go, girl—change, change, change, turn, turn, turn!

The Tarot offers Advice in the form of the Three of Wands, the fourth card in this spread. The suite of Wands show creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Though not quite as “active” as Swords, which are sure harbingers of change and tumult, the Wands show lots of action in the thought realm. These are the cards of “ideas,” the beginning of a new project.

The advice offered in the Three of Wands is to “go for it;” you are on the right track in your new creative venture. Business will move forward swiftly. Keep an eye on your goals. Publicize yourself. If a mentor should cross your path, take their advice and rely on their assistance. The emphasis is on cooperation— you don’t have to go it alone.

Miss Michele drew a *very* curious card signifying the Possible Outcome. The Ten of Swords indicates a need for rest, the death of an illusion, plans not working out. Everything will be going well and then, bam, out of nowhere… deception from a business colleague leaves you starting back at square one. This could also indicate (likely!) burnout after working full throttle on a project. Miss Michele warns Boddie to pace herself, tread carefully as your venture reaches its culmination. There is more work ahead. Take a break and look at the situation with fresh eyes after a much-needed rest.

After all, that’s what’s happened in your past projects… burn-out, being unable to run the full course.

Not wanting to end on this sour note, Miss Michele asked the Tarot:

What is Boddie’s Best Course of Action to prevent this Outcome?

The Seven of Wands gives us the answer: Hold firm against the opposition, fight for your ideals and stand your ground. It will take courage. You will feel like giving up. Don’t!
You are on the right track!

And feel free to come to Miss Michele for guidance throughout your journey.

Keep those questions coming, everyone!  Readings are FREE for the rest of 2007!
