We seem to have created a tradition where Miss Michele and I “get around” to giving each other our 12-month spreads at the close of March, beginning of April. Those first three months of each year are a mystery to us so we enjoy drawing three cards to see, “what was” along with the “what will be” of the following months.

January: Strength (reversed)

The Strength card (reversed) in January, shows Miss Michele’s continuing journey of self-empowerment. Since May last year, Michele has been discovering her personal power to manipulate her environment, to manifest her desires, and to influence the world around her. What Miss Michele discovers in January is that her internal well-being is also influenced by her thoughts and emotions. This realization shifts her earlier paradigms and as the month unfolds she continues to learn how to harness the power of her thoughts and emotions to shape her inner and outer reality.

February: Knight of Pentacles (reversed)

The Knight of Pentacles (reversed) appears in February, he heralds a developing friendship with a very business-minded person. The influence of this strengthening relation encourages Miss Michele in her own business endeavors, pushing her to consider new or greater goals. But, while the reversal of this card clearly defines the increasing mutual benefit of this friendship it also indicates a sense of insecurity. Miss Michele may be allowing fear to hold her back from reaching her true potential.

March: Ten of Cups

However, March brings a sense of freedom from the tension that developed in February and a strong focus on family. The Ten of Cups shows Miss Michele’s happy marriage, balanced partnership, and maternal instinct. There is a new depth and caring in her marriage and a the bond with her daughter is stronger than ever.

April: Knight of Cups (reversed)

Another Knight, this one baring a cup, comes into the scene in April. Again, his reversal shows a sense of unwarranted restraint that invites Miss Michele to throw off the shackles of her insecurity and embrace the change the Knight brings with him. Don’t let “reality” hold you back from doing, having, or being what you most want. The knight encourages you to chase the things about which you feel most passionate. When you do, your glowing presence will affect the people you care about. An abundance of emotional and physical love will naturally follow.

May: Five of Pentacles crosses The Hierophant

May, the one year anniversary of your experiences with the Secret Abundance Files offers another leap forward in the development of your mental and spiritual beliefs. You’ll have the opportunity to take a course or receive personal coaching but it’s not going to be cheap. The expense of this opportunity will concern you but the experience will be worth every penny. Start saving now, so that you’re prepared and won’t feel financially burdened by the expense in May!

June: Ten of Swords

I feel like the Ten of Swords in June wants to assure you that you are not alone. Usually, the Ten of Swords is a rather foreboding card. There is a strong sense of overwhelm, abuse, and hurt in this card that can be scary to consider but there is a clear message that this card brings with it today, “champion”. If you look at the Ten of Swords in the Mythic Tarot Deck, the querent is the young person curled up on the floor. A wall of swords stands between that person and the malicious Medusa-women. But another figure, heralded by a rising sun stands ready to champion the fallen.

In June, you may feel defeated, fallen, but the Tarot reminds you that you are not alone. You and your causes are championed by someone who loves you very deeply. You can feel safe in that persons care and allow them to fight on your behalf while you recover and tend to your wounds.

July: The Wheel of Fortune

The Wheel of Fortune turns and in July, the pain and worries that troubled you in June pass. The Wheel reminds us that this, too, is a part of your personal journey of growth and discovery. You come away from every experience stronger and wiser. Allow the universe to guide you in July and don’t fight against signs that are pointing you toward the best choices.

August: Two of Swords (reversed)

July’s Wheel of Fortune was a precursor for August’s Two of Swords. If you stubbornly refuse to follow the signs you’ll be faced with difficult choices and tension. The reversal on this card shows me that the tension involved is easily diffused but that YOU that must bend and change rather than expecting others to come to your point of view.

September: King of Cups (reversed)

After a few rocky months, the King of Cups brings a highlight to the throne of your family. This card is pointing to your partner. In September, he will need your support and faith. A choice he makes may lead to rising pressure.

I get a strong sense of the water in this card rising, flooding. Beware of physical dangers involved with water this month. Be ready to rescue your partner but also know that the waters will recede and that he needs your love and support rather than you judgment, opinion, or reprimands at this time.

October: Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles following the danger to your King of Cups may indicate a sense of role reversal. If your husband was injured in September you may find the weight of your financial responsibilities fall to you. Even if your partner is well you may have expenses, damage to property, etc. that requires you to increase your earning expectations this month. The Queen of Pentacles handles this, she’s capable and motivated. She rises to the occasion and “brings home the bacon”.

November: King of Swords

November calls forth your mastery of words and language. You’ll have the chance to use your communication skills to influence others and to portray a fair and informed point of view. This may be an opportunity to write an article or book about one of your “expert” topics or you may decide to promote and endorse a cause.

December: Five of Cups (reversed)

You may be concerned that the past months have led you in the wrong direction. You feel you have lost something that is dear to you. I feel, despite the cups in this card, December focuses on your career, your business. You may feel as if you’ve sacrificed your love and passion for financial security.

The reversal of this card reminds us that it’s never too late to change course. You can learn from and correct mistakes and reclaim what you have lost.

Overview: Judgment

When we reflect on the experience 2010 has in store, a strong theme of “choices” emerges. As you learn how your personal thoughts and emotions influence your life you may feel a strong sense of regret for past choices. In the journey of the Fool, Judgment is the realization that you create your destiny with your thoughts and choices. This knowledge and understanding that comes with Judgment will play an important role in the year ahead.

Hyna says:
“I’m unsure on how much info I need to tell you to get the most accurate reading. But anyway. My ex and I had been friends and neighbors since 2005. Then we became lovers around 2007 and everything went so fast from then. We move in together after just being bf/gf for 3months and it was fine at first but went downhill. We stopped living together but still tried to work things out. And still keep trying at this moment and just think its getting old and need some change. I just need some guidance. I love him and I think he feels the same way that’s why we keep going back and forth on this.”

Past Experience in Love

Page of Swords
This card shows how the relationship was tumultuous from the beginning. You were both young, full of fire and passion and adventure. This worked well for a time, as you had a fun relationship many people would envy, but when “real-life” set in, no one was the balancing aspect or the adult in the relationship.

Current Experience in Love

Knight of Pentacles
Currently, you’re ready for that adult relationship. You’re putting a lot of “work” into the relationship in the hopes it will change, but the key factor missing in this love reading, which is conspicuously lacking any cups and filled with swords and pentacles, is missing. It does not have to – should not – be this hard. That’s not to say relationships don’t take work — they do. But it’s work you should love doing because of your love for the person you’re with. That’s sorely lacking here. This has turned into – to continue the analogy – that job you work just for the paycheck, dreading every Monday morning when the alarm clock rings. It’s tedious.

Factors you’re not seeing currently

Three of Swords
You are ready for the break. He may not be, but you know, instinctually, that this is not a true love relationship and you deserve so much more. He’s scared to let you go. In the past few years, you’ve matured beyond him, both emotionally and as far as outside factors are concerned. You are living a different life than you were when you met him, and there may not be any place for him as a lover in your new world.

What you Need from a Love Relationship

Three of Pentacles
You need someone willing to work in the same way you are at a relationship. You can work really hard at something, but if you’re doing things incorrectly, you won’t get the outcome you desire. Or, you can work in the “right” way and things get easier. This is where you are now.

Your greatest strengths in a relationship/What you Offer

Four of Swords
You offer kindness, understanding, patience, and a balancing, adult influence on your partner. Additionally, this card shows that you are simply “tired” of working and fighting. It reiterates that you need a break.

Possible Future Outcome

Knight of Swords
If you continue as you are, this will end in a messy way, with you charging out of his life. On the other hand, if you heed the tarot’s advice and make a clean break, there’s a chance you’ll resurrect the friendship and remember the things you both enjoy about each other. In the future, I see another relationship that will begin, as this one did, as a firestorm of passion. Learn from the past and take it slowly to prevent repeating history.

I want to note a few significant aspects of this reading:

  1. All these Pages and Knights tell me you are still, emotionally, very young. Being young at heart (or even young in reality!) is admirable and wonderful – traits to hang onto. It’s okay if your ex is not the one for you. Take the youthful aspects of your personality and nurture them but remember it’s okay to grow up in certain ways, as well…I see you on the path to maturity and letting go of things and people in your life that aren’t working to make way for new ones is okay!
  2. The lack of Cups in this reading shows just how much this relationship has gone stale. Pentacles are the work cards, showing how much “work” this relationship has become, and swords represent the tumult within the relationship that I suspect was there from the start. At one point, it made things exciting. But one cannot live in a “Sword” mindset – always prepared for a fight – constantly. It becomes tiring and the Four of Swords (a need for rest and respite) is the result. I suspect you’re almost ready to live your next relationship from a “Cup” place, filled with love and understanding, but your ex isn’t there yet.
  3. The lack of major arcana cards in this reading tells me the decision is entirely in your hands. I know you will make the best choice for both of you, to preserve the friendship and to make way for better things in your life.

Serenity Says: I just want to add a quick word to Miss Michele’s deeply tuned reading. I get an impression from the swords and pentacles in this reading that a part of the struggles you’ve had in the past revolve around your sense of security. When in a relationship financial and material burdens are, in an ideal world, the shared responsibility of both partners. A lack of balance or support creates emotional dependence and a destroying sense of insecurity. In this reading, I get the impression you’ve felt this with your ex.

If you choose to step away from the relationship you’ll be giving yourself the opportunity to build a firm foundation of security and independence for yourself. When you can approach your relationships without feeling like you NEED your partner you’ll find yourself able to rejoice in the joy, the desire and wanting of the relationship. A relationship that is out of balance tends to need work through desperation. Where as, if you feel a sense of balance and security within the relationship the ‘work’ involved in making it work is inspired by passion.

Best wishes from the Future-Tarot team!

Once again, several Tarot enthusiasts met on Wednesday evening, 9:30 PM EST for Tarot Chat. Join us every Wednesday night! Our newest attendant had an interesting question to ask regarding a situation she is currently facing with her friend.

Teresa: I have a friend who is in difficult circumstances. What can you tell me about the endeavor I’m helping him with?

Miss Michele: Great phrasing! First card- Six of Swords. I’m using Hanson Roberts if anyone is wondering… second, Seven of Cups… third, The Tower… Which is a VERY odd combination… It seems like your friend is being his own worst enemy in this, too.

Teresa: Heh.

Miss Michele: Instead of running toward something, as shown from Six of Swords, he’s running AWAY from something. But, the Seven of Cups tells us he’s scattered about it. If he’s starting a business, he’s doing so without a business plan.

Serenity Bly: My eyes jump right to that Seven of Cups. Usually, that is about having so many dreams and not knowing how to choose amongst these abundant options. It’s about having a guide who can show the right path and needing to listen to that guide.

Miss Michele: YES… I see that as the role Teresa plays.

Serenity Bly: In this case I feel like YOU, Teresa, are that guide for your friend. You have their best interest at heart and can see more clearly a future that would lead them to their greatest joys.

Miss Michele: I just drew a fourth card, asking specifically, how can Teresa help him avoid manifesting that ‘Tower’ in his business… and the Knight of Cups came up. Knights are messengers… like Serenity said, you’re going to guide him.

Serenity Bly: But they mightn’t be very open to listening to your ideas yet and you may need to use a gentle hand, a kind heart, keep showing it, keep steering it, and eventually they’ll come to it.

Miss Michele: AND you’re going to guide him toward his passion, so he’s not doing it for the money and definitely not doing it to escape worse options.

Teresa: Really, REALLY interesting.

Miss Michele: If it does all come tumbling down, you’ll help him pick up the pieces and that is when you will (almost literally) lift him up onto your horse and carry him to a better place… So this endeavor may not work but it’s setting the stage for success next time around.

Serenity Bly: Going back to The Tower, I feel like it represents a tearing down of his belief system. His mindset is coming at it from an obscured angle and he’ll come to a point where there is a paradigm shift, SUDDENLY he’ll see things differently. It’ll feel like everything is crashing down as he comes to that realization. The way he does things will shift and change dramatically.

Teresa: He’s in the eye of the storm right now.

Miss Michele: He’s in a very exciting place right now.

Serenity Bly: It is probably in THAT space, where you’ll have the most power to guide him. Teaching him how to rebuild on a firmer foundation with new goals and expectations.

Miss Michele: I feel like “the word of the day is: CHANGE.”

Teresa: Extremely interesting… and accounting for a twist to the situation that couldn’t be anticipated by the readers, extremely accurate (I think, and hope).

I enjoyed a lovely session with Mandy in a recent Wednesday Tarot Chat. Her warm enthusiasm, gentle excitement, and empowered glimpse into her own future created a harmonious energy in the room that made her a delight to read. Having an opportunity to connect with others, to share their experiences, and offer insight and guidance is one of the reasons I look forward to our weekly chat sessions. I hope you’ll join us in a few ours for this weeks and if you can’t make it but would like me to do a three-card reading* for you please email me at SerenityBly@gmail.com.

[Mandy] The question is: Will I accomplish what I’m hoping through our schedule revamp?

[Serenity Bly] Oh, good question. The Queen of Pentacles and Ace of Swords were wanting to be jumpers. I’m not counting them in your reading unless/until they tie in with what comes out next.

[Mandy] Ok

[Serenity Bly] *ponders* In the past, the Page of Swords shows two things, the first, that you’ve been thinking or even talking about doing this for a very long time but have hesitated taking action. Perhaps that is because of the second, others naysaying your ideas.

[Mandy] And I’ve been quite busy.

[Serenity Bly] For a long time, a sense of doubt, perhaps self-doubt but also more obviously the doubt of others has made it challenging to be confident about making changes and moving forward.

[Mandy] *agrees*

[Serenity Bly] The Knight of Pentacles in the present shows BIG, but profitable (not necessarily in a material sense) changes. You’re undertaking what is going to be a rather significant journey. I feel like this reversal is significant too so I’ll read it in this case. With the horse and rider facing backwards it is likely you’ll be bringing back some of what has worked for you in the past. It might also indicate a need to look at where and how far you’ve come before you will really be sure of the path ahead.

[Mandy] I am hoping to have our daily routine figured within the next couple of days and then will begin moving forward from there. It’s going to take some work, but my ultimate objective is to ensure I have time to write and get back to writing. I miss taking a pen to paper and fingers to keyboard. It’s an amazing feeling when you complete something – and I MISS that feeling!

[Serenity Bly] In the future, the Two of Pentacles shows HARD WORK. But, in this case, it’s a great sign. You’re moving your focus away from family and finding a new balance that allows you to bring in your working life. Yes, you’ll have a lot of new things to learn and it might take time for real money to start coming in again but this is a fantastic opportunity to grow and learn. In some ways you are beginning again, but you’ve already got the tools and you’re real mastery comes in finding the way to use those tools in the time you have available.

[Mandy] Yes, hard. I’m going to try to write following the school schedule with Johnathan. I want to be free to take the summers off for the most part and keep Shaun in a structured routine to allow time for me to really work. Richard working 4 pm to midnight will help too. He’ll have a set time with Shaun so I can work upstairs without interruption.

[Serenity Bly] It sounds great.

[Mandy] I’m workin’ on it. LOL. It looks like I’ll get it sorted.

[Serenity Bly] Now, lets flash back to those two jumpers and see if they relate. Being Pentacles and Swords I think they probably do. *pauses and nods* The Queen of Pentacles is YOU. She’s gentler than a Queen of Swords. The Queen of Swords would be all business-mode. The Queen of Pentacles is security, building foundations, creating a place that is safe and warm and giving. She is the central figure of material abundance.

[Mandy] Balancing all aspects of home and work.

[Serenity Bly] The Ace of Swords must then be an indication of rethinking the way you work. What has worked for you in the past might not necessarily be what will work for you in the future.

[Mandy] Right. I can’t work until all hours of the morning and still function throughout the day. I have to balance my time, very carefully, to maintain balance, peace and order in all aspects of our lives.

[Serenity Bly] You may find yourself trying new things. If you wrote primarily for magazines you might get into fiction, or etc. The WAY you did it before may not be the way you choose to do it now. Be open to those new ideas and new concepts.

[Mandy] Completely.

[Serenity Bly] Adjust to what you feel passionate and interested in learning now and don’t feel like you have to do things the way you’ve always done them.

[Mandy] I’ve done a great deal of story writing in the past, most of which as a ghost writer. I’m looking more into helping through experience, sharing meal ideas/plans and health aspects. That’s where I feel most drawn at this point.

[Serenity Bly] That sounds like an excellent direction. Perfect for where you are in life stages right now too. *grins* And as an answer to your original question it sounds like a resounding yes. :-D

[Mandy] Fabulous!!

Concentrating on the flip of the cards, I make mental notes of the colors, the facial expressions, the attitude of the ones the Universe has chosen fit to show me as I start a new project. Tarot embraces the creative side of seekers, showing us we have unlimited sources for our inspirations. How you choose to express it is as individual as a reading and as unique as the querent. Painting? Writing? Music? All are within the creative scope of Tarot; how can we turn this energy from a reading to a manifestation of art?

I always start with colors. For me, my Gemini yellow stands out immediately in the Knight of Pentacles, Four of Wands and others in my “working” Rider-Waite Deck, demanding my attention. It attracts my eye and I’m drawn to the card to look deeper. The shade of the background color affects the reading, is it vibrant or muted? Is it a pale wash of color or something more sinister? The soft blues depicted in the Three of Cups or the midnight-black of the Devil or Nine of Swords visually invite us to stare into the card and take from it what we can to promote our art. By incorporating these colors into a drawing, we release what we’ve learned from our reading into the world.

If you are starting a new project, use them to determine what is the prevalent mood of the cards. Can they be interpreted as a dark introduction to a piece of music? Are the characters celebrating or despondent? The suits can help to determine the pace of the song: Swords are quick and agile, they lend a sharp, almost aggressive note to the music; Wands seek harmony, a melody is wrapped within its walls; Pentacles show determination and hard work, a perfect accompaniment to a complicated solo and Cups denote joy, love and the mystery of the self.

When writing, take into account the entire spread; weave a story around the beginning, middle and ending inviting the reader to join you on the journey outlined by the cards. The characters within the cards become your heroes and villains, write down their expressions as well to what is embodied in the card to help you develop their background stories. What is their hair color? Manner of dress? Are they alone? What is the most important thing they’re doing in the card: clutching at pentacles (money) or holding the hand of the one they love? By using your spread to map out a story, half the work is done for you, Tarot itself being the ultimate reflection of your own story.

Using Tarot as a tool to delve deep within your natural creativity may open new avenues. Trying journaling about the cards within your spread to see patterns evolve as you learn more about Tarot and how it fits into your life. Take the time to put your reading to work for you as a partner for your imagination as new worlds await. Good luck!

Empower Your Future: The Secret Abundance Files
