Jenny was twiddling her thumbs, waiting for her baby girl to get the action started when she saw our tweet announcing Tarot Chat. On a burst of intuition she decided to visit with us and was eager to find out what the Tarot wanted to share with our special Wednesday Tarot Chat’s free live three-card tarot readings. [Jenny] Do I have to have a question or is general ok? (I have a question if i need one but would rather trust your intuition and what i may *need* to know rather than want to know.)

[Miss Michele] Normally, we prefer a question but something tells me if you’re asking us to trust our intuition, that’s what’s meant to happen.

[Jenny] My intuition brought me here tonight and *surprise* you are someone I trust.

[Miss Michele] OMG I just realized you’re here… you haven’t had the baby yet. I know…slow on the uptake.

[Jenny] Nope. No baby yet.

[Miss Michele] Okay, none of these cards surprise me in the least. I just hope they speak to your question… Since Serenity likes hearing the cards first… QUeen of Cups, High Priestess, Nine of Pentacles.

[Serenity Bly] Ah, but if they don’t it’s because you’re meant to get THIS reading, before you get that one. Ohhhhhh!!!! *gets excited* LOVE those cards!

[Miss Michele] All three of these cards… well, they can’t get much more ‘feminine” and motherly than these. All the ladies are in the house, so to speak.

[Deb] Nice cards in general; two strong women in complementary ways. Lots of positive energy.

[Serenity Bly] The Queen of Cups is a Woman of action, take charge, definitely boss of the house but with such a caring, nurturing hand.

[Miss Michele] Yes. true leader of the household…

[Miss Michele] Exactly! I think this is saying that, essentially, *whatever* your concerns, you are woman enough to handle them.

[Miss Michele] In the past, well, even if I didn’t know you were pregnant, I’d guess it…

[Serenity Bly] *chuckles* I’m getting ‘nesting’ from the High Priestess and since she’s usually rather finiky about that sort of thing I expect it’s driving your family bonkers.

[otherdeb] What number is the High Priestess?

[Miss Michele] 2.

[Deb] My deck says Corn Maiden (and shows her doing a ritual).

[Jenny] What is the 9 of pentacles?

[Miss Michele] The Nine of Pentacles is harvesting your garden, literally reaping the fruits of all your labor.

[Jenny] Thank you, I blanked on that one

[Miss Michele] So this makes sense and… the only “advice” or knowledge I’m getting from this reading is about the pregnancy.

[Jenny] It’s PERFECT

[Miss Michele] It’s going to go exactly as you expect it, plan it.

[Jenny] And answered a question 100%

[Serenity Bly] Relax, breathe, you ARE ready and you’re going to welcome this new little one into your family easily, (strange term to use) but I mean the adjustment will be easy for you.

[Miss Michele] I had the same intuition, Serenity.

[Jenny] Now would be good. Or, how about now. Nope, I have a history of easy childbirth and this is a homebirth so…even easier – no travel.

[Serenity Bly] The three cards make me feel a girl energy from the baby.

[Miss Michele] But I remember what I went through and didn’t know if it was wishful thinking.

[Jenny] Yep, she’s a girl. Oh that was fantastic. Thank you SO much.

[Miss Michele] Any Braxton Hicks yet?

[Jenny] Yep, irregular contractions for days.

[Serenity Bly] *chuckles* Tempted to put bets on 2 days but given how off I was with Miss Michele last year I’m going to err on the side of soon instead.

[Jenny] hahahaha

[Miss Michele] Well, that’s because my little one is a wildcard.

[Serenity Bly] She sure is, and she loves to keep us guessing. lol

In Tarot, the word Hope encompasses the true depth of Major Arcana card, The Star.

In The Mythic Tarot Deck, The Star represents the story of Pandora’s box. In Greek Myth, the Titan Prometheus once stole the sacred fire of the gods and gave it to mankind. This angered the Gods who vowed to punish the human race for the crime. It was told that the King of the Gods, Zeus, ordered a exceptionally beautiful woman to be made of clay and water into whom the Gods put idleness, lies, and a selfish temperament. Zeus sent this woman to Epimetheus, Prometheus’ brother, along with a very special chest.

Before he was captured, Prometheus’ warned his brother to never touch the chest. Epimetheus in turn, told Pandora of the dangers the chest might contain but she cast aside his concerns. When she lifted the lid of the chest she released terrible Spites – Old Age, Labor, Sickness, Insanity, Vice, and Passion – which escaped into the world and infected mankind. All that remained in the box was Hope, which had somehow been locked inside with the Spites.

Like Pandora, the Star often represents the release of conflict, anger, depression, and pain. It reflects an emotional struggle and a need to rebuild confidence and find balance. But, in the end you are left with this shining ray of HOPE, you have the strength to face whatever life is going to throw at you and yes, it might be hard, but you’re given an opportunity to discover something new and wonderful.

Joan Bunning of Learn Tarot says, “The Star is most welcome when grief and despair have overwhelmed us. In our darkest moments, we need to know that there is hope,that there is light at the end of the tunnel. The Star is the opposite of the Devil who strips us of our faith in the future. Card 17 holds out the promise that we can eventually find peace of mind.”

“The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future.” ~

The Star often comes as a message to the querent that things will get better very soon. Despair is a crushing force which can sometimes overwhelm the shafts of light that burn from The Star. It is at times when despair is about to pull us into the darkness The Star will appear to remind us that change is just around the corner.

It may also be warning against depending too much on blind faith. It is one thing to trust that things will improve but another to do nothing, waiting for The Star. Hope is just the beginning, action is needed to bring about the change and ultimately, hopes purpose is to encourage action as despair begets inaction. If The Star appears in your reading it may be telling you not to give up. The hardest part is almost behind you but you have to keep moving forward to reach the new horizon.
