Motivational speaker, author and self-improvement pioneer Jim Rohn passed away last week. My friend Rich Hopkins, over at Speak & Deliver noted, “I’d say Rest in Peace, but he’s probably up there motivating angels to do better work even as I type this.” Well said, Rich. (As always).
Right now, Jim Rohn quotes are circulating Twitter faster than office employees racing to the break room for free birthday cake. Many people who have never heard of this brilliant man are learning his name and principles. Others are renewing their focus on self-improvement, goal-setting and manifesting the life of our dreams.
Universal Implications
Can one man make a difference in the world? I believe one man can and, in Jim Rohn’s case, certainly did. Even in death he is having a profound impact on the Universal Energy.
The Page of Pentacles does not represent Rohn himself. I did not know him personally but based on his work I can say Rohn was a King of Hearts – kind, loving, fiercely capable and intelligent. More advanced than a Magician (although he carried elements of that card), as disciplined as the Hierophant but more connected to people… Definite King of Hearts energy.
He brought his followers the hope, energy and fire of a Page – the Page of Pentacles, of course. People are brainstorming, letting ideas flow to them and working together to bring them to fruition. We are studying how to be better at everything we do, and then putting what we’ve learned into practice.
The Page of Pentacles does carry a warning. We have to be careful not to let ourselves get overwhelmed with ideas to the point that we fail to take action or dot the proverbial I’s. Let yourself dream, let ideas come to you. But maintain an emphasis on practicality as you move forward with those ideas. Trust your instincts.
This interpretation of the Page of Pentacles from Biddy Tarot says it best: “The Page of Pentacles is a card of dreams and the desire to fulfill those dreams in the material world.”
The Page of Pentacles has not yet attained all he’s desired, but he’s begun the journey with that important first step. Even in death, Jim Rohn continues to inspire, motivation and teach… evoking the Page of Pentacles in all of us.
Personal Implications
Glancing back I notice this same studious Page had a message for us last week, too. Serenity Bly pondered what else he could be telling us.
For me, the Page of Pentacles reminds me I’m not done learning. I never will be, but right now I’m not as far along in my journey as I believe. He also points to new business opportunities and, Serenity adds, “It could also be an untapped potential for income. Something you could be pursuing that offers more than you currently see in it.”
Tonight begins a three-part series of conference calls open to students if the Secret Abundance Files, the business and life success program I’m taking. There’s my learning tie-in. The choice of what to do with the information will be mine. With diligence, discipline and an open mind, I can take that step from a Page of Pentacles mindset to a Queen of Pentacles, tending to my garden (my businesses) in order to soon reap the rich harvest.
Here we are, Cyber Monday. It’s not surprising that our card for the week is the Page of Pentacles. To the Page, everything is new, fresh and exciting. The emphasis is on money, career and spending — but he warns us not to overspend.
If this Page of Pentacles brings one message, it’s that it’s not the price of the gift that matters. He’ll aim for practical gifts that will be greatly appreciated by the recipient. He may be known to spend a lot when he finds that perfect gift for the special someone — but only if he knows he can afford it.
I bet he shops online for the best deals, uses all sorts of smartphone apps to comparison shop, and never, ever waits till the last minute. The Page of Pentacles is all about using the tools at his disposal to learn, and then implement what he’s learned to create wealth and security for himself. He *gets* it.
Personal implications
Ouch! As I look at my personal finances for the coming months, it’s hard to deny the Page of Pentacles has a message specifically for me. As my income streams have shifted again — along with my expenses — it’s time to budget again. And yes, I was guilty of overspending this weekend.
Next week brings invoicing and the welcome end of a dry spell in terms of solid income and big checks. I’ll begin experiencing some of that security the Page of Pentacles represents — and if I heed his advice this Christmas, that sense (and reality) of having more than enough should continue into the new year.
Universal implications
The first of the month before the holidays is perhaps a good time for everyone to re-evaluate their expenses. It may be tempting to wait until the new year, but a healthy reality check may curb over-spending at Christmas.
Reports of Black Friday sales exceeded estimates from a variety of sources. While the recession isn’t over, this winter is looking brighter than last, certainly.
The Page of Pentacles, with his wisdom in money matters, practical spending, and emphasis on education to increase his income may carry a message for us all.
Highlights of the Page of Pentacles
- Practical money management
- Emphasis on education
- New opportunities
- Using the tools at your disposal to achieve financial security
Ellen requested an L-for-Love spread with no specific question. Miss Michele’s Hanson-Roberts deck revealed some interesting insights and a positive outlook where Ellen will see her needs fulfilled as she gets what she has worked for.
Past Experience in Love: Two of Swords: Ellen may have been the victim of cheating in the past or, at the very least, a situation she didn’t like. The blindfolded woman, swords crossed, shows a strong sense of balance but also hidden factors that Ellen isn’t seeing. She removed the blinders which, based on the next card, brought forth a transformation. I’m getting a strong feeling that perhaps Ellen was with a man her family and friends disapproved of, but she failed to see his faults for a long time.
Current Experience in Love: Judgment: It’s put-up or shut-up for Ellen’s lover, as she’s passed judgment on him and the case is closed. He can either right past wrongs or hit the road. Once Ellen opened her eyes, she saw the problems but is working to forgive him and trying to work things out.
What You Want in a Love Relationship: Two of Cups: Simply stated, Ellen wants a fair partnership, filled with love. She’d like marriage in the future, with someone who returns her passion. Ellen is an extremely loving person and just wants someone who can give that back to her.
What You Need in a Love Relationship / Hidden Influences: Page of Pentacles: Ellen may need not only a new perspective — often indicated by this card — but a new relationship. Miss Michele gets a strong sense that this isn’t one of those situations where it just feels like a new relationship because both parties have changed so much. Once Ellen starts seeing things in a different way, she will get a fresh start with a new lover and it will feel very much like young love. The pentacles also indicate that they will match each other on a platonic and intellectual level as well as romantically, which is always an ideal situation in a relationship!
What You Have to Offer in a Relationship: The Nine of Cups: Ellen is ready to share all her love, her whole life and her dreams with the right person. The “Wish card” in this spot indicates that Ellen is ready to grant someone’s wishes while her own will come true. Ellen is extremely nurturing, loving and kind, as well as generally upbeat. She deserves – to put it bluntly – a man who deserves her, and nothing less!
Possible Future Outcome: Justice: She will get exactly that, while her potentially former partner will also get what he needs and wants out of life, what he was truly seeking all the while. It seems to me that, while he’s not a bad person, he just wasn’t a fit for Ellen. Her friends and family picked up on this before she did; it took a dramatic turn of events for Ellen to see what she was sacrificing by standing in an unbalanced and love-less relationship. Prospects on the horizon for Ellen are much happier; she’s a stronger person as a result of her turmoil and even better prepared for her true love to find her.
