She seeks to provide for them, to give them the finer things in life, to shelter them from poverty and regret. From this strength her family learns to work hard for what they want from life. This week I've been reminded of this side of myself. My mind has been very focused on family. Tonight I attended the school musical production where my 5 year old performed and allowed myself a sense of pride in his courage and joy. Later I opened my home to family, having taken time to create a warm and socially acceptable environment. One thing I like to remind myself when I see the Queen of Pentacles is the importance of balance. The Queen of Pentacles can be a little too absorbed in social acceptance, status, and how others consider all she has and does. Wanting to create a beautiful home and to have conveniences and luxuries is natural and healthy. The danger lies in feeling a need to compete or compare with others. The Queen of Pentacles reminds us that we can live the life we want, have the things we want, be the person we want to be, regardless of the expectations and opinions of the community. She rules, and ultimately it is her own opinion which holds the final sway.
